David Mangnall

PDM - Tasman Rugby

David Mangnall brings more than 30 years’ experience across outdoor education, teaching, and leadership development into his role as a Personal Development Manager. Having worked in outdoor education in New Zealand and overseas, including eight years as part of the management team at Outward Bound New Zealand, David brings a deeply practical, values-led approach to learning and growth. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management from Lincoln University, a Post-graduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Canterbury, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Outdoor and Environmental Education from the University of Edinburgh.

Now in his eighth year as a PDM, David is a calm, trusted presence for players, known for his genuine care, steady advocacy, and willingness to walk alongside people as they navigate both challenge and opportunity. He supports players to build resilience, perspective, and confidence on and off the field, always with the long game in mind. Based in the Tasman district, David lives with his wife Angela and has an adult daughter at university. When not working, he’s most at home outdoors - tramping, biking, skiing, or quietly seeking the next adventure.
