Mark Ranby

National Practice Manager

Mark is a former professional rugby player and All Black #1001, with a 12-year career playing professionally in New Zealand and Japan. During his playing career, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and later undertook a Diploma in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Cambridge.

Mark has a strong interest in people and their development and is committed to supporting individuals to explore areas that inspire and motivate them. He spent five seasons as a Personal Development Manager (PDM) with the Crusaders and Canterbury teams, before moving south to work with the Highlanders for a further three seasons. He then transitioned into the RPA Rugby Network Manager role, where he focused on connecting and supporting retired professional players. Mark currently serves as the National Practice Manager, supporting and developing the organisation’s team of PDMs nationwide.

Outside of his professional role, Mark enjoys reading, spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their two sons, Tom and Fergus, and values thoughtful conversation across a wide range of topics.
