Lloyd Elisara brings a deeply grounded, people-first approach to his role as Personal Development Manager for the Chiefs, shaped by a lifelong commitment to education, culture, and holistic development. Raised across Aotearoa, Lloyd completed his Teaching Diploma before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Law from the University of Otago. He has continued to strengthen his practice through postgraduate qualifications in Professional Supervision and Counselling from the University of Auckland, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Indigenous Studies from the University of Waikato. His work is underpinned by a belief in lifelong learning and the transformative power of education.
Prior to entering professional rugby, Lloyd spent 16 years working with at-risk youth as a youth worker, teacher, and operations manager within youth residential care and youth justice environments. That experience, combined with more than 20 years as a practicing musician, has shaped his ability to connect authentically and support players in developing strong identities beyond the game. Now in his ninth year with the Chiefs, Lloyd continues to walk alongside players as they grow from young athletes navigating professional pressures into leaders, partners, and fathers. A father of four himself, Lloyd is passionate about helping players see rugby not only as a career, but as a platform for personal growth, self-awareness, and enduring impact.
